Weekend round-up

Lots of MCF clubs were in action this weekend and it seems that a great time has been had by all! BXUK hit the beach, Minibikes headed to Champs Park, Portsmouth had another wet weekend and Newton Le Willows saw a mega turn-out...here's what went down.

First up and BXUK returned to Margate for the 10th year! Last years champs were on top form again this year as we saw last years solo winner Arnaud Degousee take the win once again. Also, last years series winner Brit Oli Sansom took the win in the Pro Quads after an impressive weekends racing. A massive thanks from the organisers to everyone who came, took part, helped out and watched…the two day event was a great success. They will now move onto Ingoldmells for rounds three and four of the Championship in July.

At Champs park in Kettering, a bitterly cold weekend produced some top quality riding. The two day Nationals event is a pre-season opener for the Championship, so is good for giving you an idea of the ones to watch throughout the series! Harrison Jepson took the win in the kids, whilst Billy Smith took the overall in the youths after winning four out of the weekends five motos. Ashley Gorman won the pro 88 and Connor Ward wrapped up the Stock 110s. Dale Howard pulled off a mega win in all 5 motos to take the overall in the masters and finally, Tom Sown and Boru Nicholass took the pro 125 and 160 respectively. The 2015 Skye Energy Drink mini-bike British Championship will kick off with rounds one and two of ten on the 18th and 19th of April at Action Park in Basildon.

Another wet Meon for Portsmouth Club, but as ever the riding and racing was more than worthy of a watch! Overall winners from the weekend included Carl Turner who took the overall in the AMX class and Nicky Watts who did the same in the Experts. Despite a sparse rookie turnout, the action was non-stop with the battle still going strong between Charlie Putnam and Aaron Gordon, with the latter taking the overall win.

The 85 riders joined forces with only two spaces spare on the gate. Liam Jones took the overall victory in the big wheels, and Alfie Rickwood in the small wheels. AX hero Robert Storer took charge of the 65’s and stole the overall victory, followed by Charlie Nightingale and fellow AX star Callum Clarke. The hills were daunting to a few of the Auto riders, but Charlie Richardson made it look easy and came in first overall. The VMX class was like turning back time as a number of old Pompey members came out of the woodwork to battle it out again on the track. It was however, ‘new boy’ Darren King who’s perfect style and impressive speed rewarded him with three straight wins and the overall victory.

Congratulations to Big Wheel 85 rider Liam Jones who becomes the second Shaun Simpson Rider of the Meeting! Liam will be presented with his trophy and freebies from Shaun at the next round.

A brilliant weekend for Newton Le Willows, huge turn out and great organisation! The club were at Doncaster Moto Parc for a two-day event with rounds one and two both taking place at the quality track. The weekend was a mixed bag in terms of results, with many of the youth classes seeing dominance across both days, however in the Novice, AMX and Vets classes, there were completely different podiums on each day.

In the autos, Billy Askew took all three wins on the Saturday, whilst on the Sunday, Casey Jones (who came third overall in round 1) took the top step. The 65’s were dominated by the Fergusons, with Braydon taking the win on Saturday and Ryley coming in first overall on Sunday during round two. Casey Hird  took the small wheel win on Saturday, whilst Ethan Tollet claimed the round two title on Sunday. Meanwhile Jerry Fowler stayed on the top step across the weekend winning both rounds over all. The rookies saw a similar story as Dee-Jay Walker took the win both days, closely followed by Drew Roe.

The packed out novice class was won by Danny Laz on Saturday however he slipped down the table to make way for Jake Macormmang to take first on Sunday. Round one saw Macaulay Maddon take all three race wins giving him first overall in the AMX class followed by Andrew Smart and Craig Venske. However, on the Sunday, none of these riders were present on the podium, as instead, Richard Bird #57 took the overall win, with James Lassu and William Orritt behind him. Finally, the vets class was seemingly shaken up over-night as the podium saw plenty of changes from round to round. On Saturday David Orritt took the win from Mick Thorne and Lee Davies, who also came second on Sunday, just behind Andy Shelton.

Check back later today to see who’s riding where, when and what this weekend!
